Troubleshooting Guide > Throttle Battery Indicator Does Not Light Up Throttle Battery Indicator Does Not Light Up
Overview When a throttle's battery indicator lights do not light up that usually indicates that the power switch is faulty or that the speed controller is not receiving any power to its battery connector. This can be caused by a faulty power switch, blown or faulty fuse or circuit breaker, faulty battery pack wiring harness or connectors, faulty throttle cable or connector, or from a battery pack that is overdischarged which does not have a high enough Voltage level to make the first battery level indicator light illuminate.
Make Sure The Power Switch Is On Determine that the key switch or power switch is in the on position.
Test For Voltage At The Controller's Battery Connector Testing for Voltage at the controller's battery connector is the easiest way to begin narrowing down where the problem is. Turn the power or key switch on and test for Voltage at the controller's battery connector. If Voltage is present at the controller's battery connector then all of the parts between the controller and the battery pack should be OK. However, the battery pack's Voltage may not be high enough to make the throttle's first battery level indicator light illuminate so the Voltage should be checked to see if it is over a zero percent state of charge level using our Battery State of Charge Chart.
Test The Power Switch Test the power switch or key switch terminals for continuity with a multimeter.
Check Or Test The Fuse Or Circuit Breaker If the scooters uses a fuse, look at the inside of the fuse to see if it is burned-out. The fuse may need to be removed from the scooter and held up to a source of light to determine if it is burned-out or not. For scooters that use a circuit breaker, push-on or flip the circuit breaker to see if it will reset. Test the fuse or circuit breaker terminals for continuity with a multimeter.
