Custom Electric Mini Bike Project
Electric Scooter Parts made this project possible. I used a standard classic mini bike frame modified for a 48 volt, 1000 watt motor purchased from ESP. I made some custom #35 sprockets to fit the motor shaft that would match up to standard #35 Go-Kart chain and wheel sprockets. I made a battery box to house four 12 Volt-15 AH batteries, ports, controller, switches and gauges. The aluminum rims are standard “Tri-Star” Go-Kart wheels—5” front and 6” rear. The chain guard and side air scoop were both made from 4” PVC fittings. The scoop forces air through the motor side vents and helps keep it a little cooler on long rides.
Most of the electrical components were purchased from Electric Scooter Parts—the motor, controller, throttle, headlights, batteries, charger and charging ports. The 1000 Watt (3000 RPM) motor gives the bike plenty of power and speed. It easily does about 23 MPH with the 4.8 to 1 gearing I used. I don’t know what the range is but the bike runs for hours on a full charge.
I’ve since started more projects using Electric Scooter Parts as my main supplier. Great merchandise and great service. Thanks guys. |

Modified Razor EcoSmart Electric Scooter Project
My Custom EcoSmart has a 52v upgrade pushing a 1000 Watt motor equipped with cooling fan. The speed controller is a 1000 watt throttle/ controller combo and the batteries have been upgraded to 12v10ah cells.
The scooter features a permanent hidden GPS tracking system with 10 year battery located inside the frame and alerts through my cell phone. The tracker has motion sensing and real time Satellite location in case its stolen.
3000 lumen headlamp, 1000 lumen tail light with wireless alarm also with motion sensor controlled with key fob and very loud siren. Tires have been upgrade to 16x2.50 and sprockets and chain upgraded to 8mm.
Gearing is upped one step higher at motor sprocket. Under seat features green neon light as well as green under tray LED lighting. Wheel bearings, steering bearing upgraded with Haro Pro 16'' BMX bicycle bearings.
Digital voltmeter and phone cradle mounted on handlebars. Sound comes from a Dodocool
Bluetooth speaker that connects to my phone and blasts my Spotify music while riding.
Haro Pro BMX Brake Cables do the stopping and the entire scooter was painted 2015 House of Kolor Mopar Sublime Lime and clear coated. The scooters top speed is 31 mph and it will go about 16 miles on a charge.
Hills are no problem with the massive 1000watt motor and stopping is instant with the dual brakes. Weight is 64lbs and noise is practically none at all.
I built 3 of these scooters one for me one for my wife and another for my 26yo daughter. These scooters grab a ton of attention when we have them out and were fantastic fun to build.
ElectricScooterParts supplied all the upgrades and all the knowledge on how to make this project a success. They deserve 110% of my
business and my appreciation..

Razor MX650 Upgrade Modification Projectt
Blue bike was Originally an Razor MX650. I upgraded motor from a stock 650 Watt to a 750
Watt. I also upgraded batteries from the stock 3 12 volt/12ah (36v total) to 4 12 volt/15ah (48v total).
I then upgraded controller to 48 volt controller in order to accommodate the 4 batteries.
Next upgrade not required but I decided to upgrade throttle to a full turn throttle just like a real motor bike. Finally I upgraded the shocks to accommodate my 220lb weight and to handle speed and off road hills and bumps.
Added finishing touches by painting and adding mototecross decal vinyl stickers along with hand guards.
The red bike was a MX500; I only upgraded motor to 650 watt which I removed from other bike. I Plan on doing same upgrades next on red bike as I’ve done to blue.
LOTS of fun racing with my son and upgrades were self explanatory and pretty much swap old parts with new ones. Only maneuvering was with 4th battery.
I looked up video on YouTube on how to add extra battery and still able to use original cover.

Recumbent Electric Bicycle Project
I put an electric motor on front wheel of a Sun Recumbent Bicycle. Required
building a new fork and mounting a Plate to hold the motor. A 70 cell Li-ion
battery in rear bag. Bike can go about 100 miles as power assist, or 25 with
it's power.
I used the MOT-24450G motor with a 16 tooth freewheel on a 20" BMX bike front
wheel. That gives a 18 MPH top speed, and the torque at 30 Amp to climb a 20% grade.

Custom-Made Wooden Electric Scooter Project I made this scooter for my teenage son from a snowboard, a kids bike with 12" wheels and some pretty basic carpentry for frame and "neck." Electric Scooter Parts helped me choose a 500w 24v brushed motor and a PWM controller with thumb throttle.
I added a brake lever with electric switch motor cutout for extra safety. Under the "hood" or under the deck I have
two 12 Volt 7 Ah sealed lead acid batteries for some old tech fun.
For my drive train I eventually chose scooter chain and sprockets (#25) and a 11/47 reduction to get an actual and theoretical top speed of 20 mph on the flat.
I intend to add led head and tail lights and some programmable ones underneath for a UFO look. That will make it a lot safer at night too.
Thanks to ElectricScooterParts.com for all of their patient and expert support as I found my way through wiring, and drive train issues! When people stop me on the street I'm quick to sing your praises.

Electric Rhoades Car Project
This is a project for a handicapped person who cannot pedal. We chose a Quadracycle for stability, as he would be quite challenged to get up, right the vehicle and get going again if it tipped over, as tricycles are apt to do.
It features a Rowing Action Drive propulsion system, and it moves the vehicle forward when Pulling the Rowing? Steering Bar, or when Pushing it. The Rowing/Steering bar has heavy duty scooter brake cable actuated steering....
so you can steer while rowing, or just use the thumb throttle and relax between strokes. It has disc brakes, too. And that is a very comfortable well padded seat, and a large basket.

Walk Behind Electric Cart for Remote Cabin Project
I have a remote cabin that is up a gradual hill, 200 feet from the shoreline.
I have modified a Gamecart to carry coolers, water, and propane tanks using a 450W motor (MOT-24450G), a YK31C controller (SPD-24500B), and thumb control.
Works great, but a little too fast. I was unable to get the gear ratio that
I wanted. I had to settle for a 13 tooth freewheel and a 72 tooth weld-on sprocket (5.5 to 1).
First on-site test will take place in May. Video to follow.
Thanks to ElectricScooterParts the project was easy to complete.

48 Volt 1800 Watt Electric Bike Project
This is my no pedal electric bike. It has a 48 Volt 1800 Watt brushless electric scooter motor. I am using motorized bicycle parts for the rear gear for 415 chain with a 4 to 1 ratio 11 teeth on
the motor and 44 for the rear sprocket. It goes about 30 MPH with my 290 lbs on
it. I have gone about 100 miles at this point.
Message from ElectricScooterParts.com technical support: The 4 to
1 gear ratio is too high for the 24" mountain bike wheel and provides a 78 MPH top speed
gearing which is more than twice as fast as the 1800 Watt motor has the power to deliver. For
significantly faster acceleration and better hill climbing plus a normal motor
and controller lifespan we recommend regearing this bike for a top speed of
around 30 MPH. Sprocket sizes for a top speed of around 30 MPH can be determined
using our online Motor and Gear Ratio
Calculator and custom sprockets can be ordered from our
Custom-Made Sprockets page.
