AGM lead-acid batteries are used on practically all electric
scooters, bikes, and go karts.
After the battery or battery pack has been fully
charged, disconnected from the battery charger, and let stand for an
hour or longer, then its state of charge Voltage can be accurately
measured. This measurement reading is the battery or battery pack's
standing Voltage.
|
Green state of charge levels are safe for the battery to be
in while it is in use and the battery will have normal output
power. |
|
Yellow state of charge levels are safe for the
battery to be in while in use and the battery will have
moderately diminished output power. |
|
Red state of charge levels are safe for the
battery to be in while in use and the battery will have severely
diminished power output. |
The battery or battery pack should be
fully charged after every use so it remains at a 100% state of charge while it
is not being used.
The battery or battery pack should not be
discharged to a Voltage that is lower than its 0% state of charge
level otherwise it may become damaged and not able to be recharged.
Most speed controllers will go into Low Voltage Protection mode and shut
the motor off once the battery or battery pack reaches a 0% state of
charge. This protects the battery or battery pack from becoming damaged and
unusable due to being over-discharged.
